Book Review: The Amendment by Anne Leigh Parrish

What do you do when you lose your partner in life? That’s the question asked in Anne Leigh Parrish’s The Amendment. Main character Lavinia Starkhurst loses her husband in a freak accident. She then decides to go on a road trip on a bit of a whim to see all the things she hadn’t seen before as a response to being asked whether she’d sell the house.

She starts to plan her trips, amass road maps, and think about what literally will lie ahead of her on the open road. Throughout the novel, not only is her journey of healing but it’s also a journey of discovery of self and others, showing that sometimes endings can also be beginnings, despite how much grief they give us.
