Book Review: A Mother’s Book of Blessings

May the strength of the wind and the light of the sun,
The softness of the rain and the mystery of the moon
Reach you and fill you,
May beauty delight you and happiness uplift you,
May wonder fulfill you and love surround you,
May your step be steady and your arm be strong,
May your heart be peaceful and your word be true,
May you seek to learn, may you learn to live,
May you live to love, and may you love–always.
 – Celtic blessing (p. 51, A Mother’s Book of Blessings

This book is simply gorgeous. It has quotes for every situation – the above is from the section on new babies. There are graduation blessings, wedding blessings, housewarming blessings, travel blessings, and more. With Mother’s Day rapidly approaching, a book like this would make a lovely gift for a mother at any stage in her life. It’s an attractive enough book to become a family heirloom, passed from mother to daughter or daughter-in-law. I received this book to review, thinking that it would just be a book of quotes, like many that are out there, and I was very pleasantly surprised by the quality of it.
