Wining WifeIs it already that time? Little Miss is beginning preschool (at home). I can’t believe how quickly they grow up. Tiger Boy has started his senior year of high school at the local public school, and we spent a good part of the summer talking about college options, and ended the summer with a couple of college visits. It doesn’t seem like it was so long ago that he was learning his alphabet and looking forward to attending preschool himself.

About the Blog Tour Decision

Initially for the LuLu & Celeste & Sprouting JubeJube back to school blog tour, I figured I’d make him something  for his first day of senior year.  But you know how teenagers are. He agreed to have me make him some really cute pajamas – but he doesn’t want to be photographed in them. I totally can respect that.  I made him some jeans, but the pattern I wanted to use hasn’t been released yet (I was a tester).

But, this big guy isn’t the only one doing school this year. I’m starting little miss off on some preschool at home work (we plan to preschool as long as possible, as I did with the high school senior from 2nd-7th grades). Since she’s a budding fashionista, she’s always happy with whatever I make her – the more glitter and/or pink, the better. I had some really cute fabric I’d already received from Mabel Madison, and that I’d planned to make myself a pencil skirt and top outfit from, and so I figured I’d make her a matching outfit.

About the Fabric and Patterns I Used

I chose to use Stenzo’s Gnomes on the Bus cotton poplin and Stenzo’s Little Stars Red jersey knit (Disclaimer: I work with Mabel Madison as the blog and social media coordinator.) Both fabrics are super soft, yet really attractive – making them perfect for a 2 1/2-year-old to wear. I used Made for Mermaids’ patterns: the Chloe Skirt and the Lauren Pintuck Top (that is an affiliate link).  Both patterns are easy (the skirt took longer to cut than it did to sew), and yet look super cute and provide a great way to show off fabric. I decided to include a decorative button on the front of the shirt at the collar. I really love how these came out! (Keep reading to the end for giveaways and special discounts!)
